Pic of the bike at the railraod bridge near Hiwassee River..

Heres a couple pics of Melody with the Bridge in the background..

After that we stopped by Mikes shop to pickup some spare keys for the bags he had ordered me. He said there were alot of bikes out this weekend.. Said he heard about a head-on collision at the dragon this weekend , either yesterday or today? said both of the drivers were unconcious. And a female rider that was hurt but moving around. My prayers go out to those involved in this. Anyone have any info? I hope they will be ok. Also looking forward to heading back to Helen for Oktoberfest which is alwasy fun.. Cheers!!

We stayed in Helen, Georgia. Did a little loop around Helen to the Covered Bridge one day. The other pics were made to and from. Different routes coming in and out.. Oktoberfest is like 2 months long in Helen.. Its like big party festival german type stuff. So we got plenty of time to go. With my work schedule probably be just go down Sat evening, come back a Sunday sometime unless a upcoming holiday allows me an extra day off or something.

Hey, can ya give me some detail of the hotel you stayed at: name, where it was, what floor or room that was, what pricing is like, any tips on getting their best rate... I'm planning an overnight to Helen and that view is awesome! Was the hotel downtown or away from town?

This was in town on the backstreets.. Near the Oktoberfestival Hall.. I'll have Meldoy chime in on the details of the name and cost.. I can't remember the name. This one I think was like 120 bucks a night .. Which was only 1 room and bath, king sized bed. And deck view. was on 2nd floor with stairs to climb. You park right out front of the stairs so not that big of deal. It might have been cheaper then 120, I think they jacked up prcies for the holiday weekend.. She chewed em down a little i think by saying we were repeat customers.. which we were.. but not sure they actually checked that or not.. might try that to get a cheaper rate or haggle with them.

We stayed same place last time for about same price or cheaper I think, but it had 2 bedrooms, washer, drayer, living room, full kitchen, etc. and also deck view.. Some of these are condo's.. and you would think they would be alot higher, but when we priced rooms.. the super 8 and places where 150 for a motel room this last weekend.. and I've stayed in the motels around helen before.. I wouldn't advise it... most are nasty.. and expensive.. might just be this time of year, but seems like last year or year before we stayed in just basic motel room for 50-60 a night..

I'l let her chime in on the exact costs and the name of the place. They do have a killer deck view right on the river which is nice.. and also within walking distance of town...

I'll dig up some photos of past helen trips of a cabin we stayed in also that the drive is right off main street in helen, but turns to gravel just for short distance.. this was huge cabin with upstairs, and 2 baths.. one big bedroom and the upstairs has two twin beds.. it was about 120 a night.. which woudlnt be bad if you could get another couple to go with you and split up the costs.etc. The name of that place was A-1 Vacation Rentals.. I'll get the other info for ya tho..

This was a Cabin I stayed at in early October of last year for around 125 a night.. we split this cost with another couple so it only cost us 65ish a night.. The drive is right off main street in Helen but is Gravel Access.. The other place is right on the backstreet of town.. I liked it because you can walk around everwhere from your room. I'll get the info on that tho. Let me know when your going, I can recommend some good places to eat, and offer some scenic type GPS data of the area.. There is a killer buffet just 4 or 5 miles sout of town. Very worth the drive down.. Its West Family Restaurant, and its similar to a Ryans or something up here.. Its GPS Cordinates are N34 38.694 W83 44.234 .. I'll post a 2nd pic below.
