Hey TNADVRs....This is Jason over on Franklin (Middle TN).

I'm putting together a DS ride for some us guys over here. I can read maps and program tracks but, I don't have any local knowledge. Was wondering if some of you dudes would be willing to help me over the phone....or we could chat it out here.

If you are familiar with these roads, would you mind helping me out? It's all stuff in the Tellico Plains, Robbinsville, Tapoco, Andrews area. Thanks ! !

Tellico:

River Road

N RIver Rd

Old Santeetlah Rd

Tampoco:

Yellow Creek Rd

Old Field Gap Rd

Meadow Branch Rd

Robbinsville:

Little Snowbird Rd

Dentons Area

Unnamed mountain roads that get me over to Andrews

Andrews:

Tatham Gap

Long Creek

Have you figured out the proposed route yet? :smirk:

We're also gunna do Python's Ultimate DS route that I read about on ADVRIDER.

Any advice would be helpful. Feel free to post, PM or call me....six one five - nine five seven - o five seven nine....Jason.

BTW....when we get it worked out, anyone's welcome to join us.....April 9, 10, 11

I'm thinking you've got most of the info on the TN side, if not let me know.....

Santeetlah is a gravel road that starts out at Santeetlah gap and basically runs alongside Big Santeetlah creek roughly paralleling Cherohala, but taking the low ground with a gravel/dirt surface, whereas Cherohala is riding the ridgetops on pavement..... it climbs back out of the valley at the Whig and you can either top out and get back on Cherohala or go under Cherohala and connect up with the North River Road on the TN side....

Either Forest Service or National Geographic maps should show all of this.... you will need both info on the Nantahala National Forest (NC side) and the Cherokee National Forest (TN side)....

Two paths from the Robbinsville side of the mountain to Andrews....

Tatham Gap/Long Creek (known by both names) and Little Snowbird..... I know them better from the Robbinsville side, where they start out in very different places and are all continuations from the end of often traveled sections of the road...... I do remember on Little Snowbird there is a fairly large house up on the side of the hill right in front of you where you need to make a hard left..... All I could think of is what the heck is that doing here.... Anyhow, both roads come out in close to the same place on the Andrews side....from near the beginning of where the two lane turns into 4 lanes (coming from Topton to Andrews) to the back roads behind the Hillbilly Mall.....

Google Maps- Satelite view shows most of these areas/roads pretty well....
